COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course will deliver aspects of the Performing Arts curriculum including Maori Performing Arts, Group Performance (Pasifika) and elements of dance.
During Term 1 and 2, students will work towards their chosen cultural performance to present at the Regional Kapahaka/Polyfest competitions and Multicultural Day. Dance becomes a focus in Term 3 and 4 for students to choreograph and perform group and solo dances exploring a range of social themes and styles.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course provides foundation skills in performance, composition, aural and theory towards Grade 3 level study. Students select their main instrument to rehearse and perform two solo pieces. Students also participate in group ensemble pieces and have the opportunity to share their progress at Soiree performances through the year. Students also gain skills in Music technology softwar to record and reproduce original and covered material.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This builds on skills in solo and group performance, and provides students the opportunity to develop their own body of work towards soiree performances throughout the year. Composition and skills in arrangement are developed alongside skills in Music Technology software to assist students in recreating their original and covered material. Foundation skills in Grade 4 theory is encouraged.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Students build their body of work over the year to perform two programmes in their solo instrument. Students select works to recreate an ensemble performance and create a composition portfolio of three original works. In their final year, students create a combined portfolio of their recordings as an EP performance video as a record of their learning.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Level 1 Drama will help students to build confidence, develop personal and performance skills and to recognise and select, appropriate dramatic techniques and conventions to use in performance. Students will be required to attend out of class rehearsals and to attend live theatre performances.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Students will develop an understanding and critical appreciation of drama from different periods of history and cultures. They will also develop personal and performance skills and gain knowledge of a range of conventions and theatre forms. Students will be required to attend out of class rehearsals and to attend live theatre performances.

Students will develop a critical appreciation for their own performance work and the dramatic interpretations of others. They will respond to and evaluate a range of works, performances and theatre practitioners. Students will research drama’s function in interpreting and recording social and cultural history. Students will be required to attend out of class rehearsals and to attend live theatre performances.
