COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Students will complete Internal Achievement Standards during the first half of the year, developing skills required for external folio in Terms Three and Four.  They will study painting and printmaking techniques and extend their drawing skills. A variety of themes are covered including self-portrait, significant place and symbol.

Good time management skills and independent work habits are essential as the pace is fast and the work challenging.  Commitment to weekly homework is vital.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course offers only Internal standards. It caters for students who want to engage in a different type of Art making - focusing on street art. It also covers ‘real world’ learning - what it means to be an artist and how to run your own business (how to make a logo and promote your brand). Students produce a large scale ‘mural’ in Term 3/4 demonstrating what they have learnt throughout the year.

This course cannot be chosen as well as ART100/101 (the same standards are covered)

ASSESSMENT: Level 2 Achievement Standards

TOTAL CREDITS: Either 16 Internal OR 12 Internal, 12 External

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course builds on skills developed in Level 1 Art, with students exploring Painting mediums.  Through research and practical Achievement Standards, students will study a variety of techniques used by established artists, using this knowledge to inform and extend their own work.  Commitment to regular homework is essential in order to produce the quantity and quality of work required at this level.

While the majority of students in this option will complete an external folio, there is an additional internal Achievement Standard available to those students who wish to do a fully internal course.

COURSE COST: $60

TOTAL CREDITS: 8 - 12 Internal, 12 External

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Students will learn how their camera functions, along with ways to create different photographic effects with camera and Photoshop techniques.  Formal elements of photography will be explored through practical investigation of traditional and contemporary photography.

Students need good time management skills to cope with the demands of both the homework and folio components of this course.  Students MUST have their own digital camera of at least 12MP with manual ISO, shutter and aperture functions.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Creative, practical based Design will continue to be explored in this course.  Students are required to respond to a variety of briefs using design principles learned in Level 1 along with their own creative skills.

While the majority of students in this option will complete an external folio, there is an additional internal Achievement Standard available to those students who wish to do a fully internal course. Having access to a computer or laptop at home with Photoshop is an advantage.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: Level 2 Art

ASSESSMENT: Level 3 Achievement Standards

COURSE COST: $70

TOTAL CREDITS: 8 Internal, 14 External

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Students will investigate artworks and techniques/conventions from traditional and contemporary art-making and painting traditions. They will look at the context (environment, culture and beliefs) which artworks are created in and become more confident in expressing their ideas visually, with an emphasis on individual conceptual development.

Homework is essential in order to produce the quantity and quality of work required for folio at this level.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: Level 2 Photography or Level 2 Design

ASSESSMENT: Level 3 Achievement Standards

COURSE COST: $60

TOTAL CREDITS: 8 - 12 Internal, 14 External

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course extends the skills learned in Level 2 Photography and Level 2 Design. Students will investigate artworks and techniques/conventions from traditional and contemporary art making, design and photography traditions. Students are expected to demonstrate their knowledge of photography and design in two practical assessments for each discipline. This is a fully internally assessed course.

Students MUST have their own digital camera of at least 12MP with manual ISO, shutter and aperture functions. Having access to a computer or laptop at home with Photoshop is an advantage.
