Project Class

A Year 10 Project Class was established in 2012.  This class enables students who prefer to learn through experiential learning, or ‘doing’ to get stuck in and learn on the job. This programme has included such experiences as a bush tramp (survival theme), a week on a dairy farm during calving season when they have the opportunity to explore a number of aspects of primary industry including land use, river control, irrigation, effluent disposal, employment opportunities, contract supply, export and marketing etc. and other field work.

The NZ Defense Service Academy

In 2011 the government announced that Naenae College had been awarded a Service Academy Programme which catered for 20 students. Lots of work has been done since then to get our Academy off the ground.

The Service Academy programme includes block courses at the Waiouru Military Camp. The balance of this programme includes lots of physical activity as well as improving students literacy, numeracy and other academic and social skills. It is a full year course and places are limited.  If you are interested in arranging an enrolment interview for the Service Academy please contact Mr Haehae as soon as possible on 04 567 7175.
