Study Support

Learning Support
The school allocates significant resources to help students who need support with mainstream learning. Those who have reading difficulties will receive additional reading support. Others may
have work specifically tailored to them, have some teacher aide assistance in class or join the Learning Support Centre for a period of time. We go to considerable effort to accurately profile students’ learning abilities and needs before they commence College so that we can best direct resources and balance classes.

Careers Advice
Mr Scott Maclean co-ordinates the Careers Programme which is delivered to all year levels in the College. He also aims to see every Year 13 and other potential leaver for a personal interview prior to leaving.  Students/parents are welcome to make appointments or visit the Careers Office.
Homework centre
An inspired message from Dr Robert Schuller “Messages for Possibility Thinkers: ”tough times never last, but tough people do!”

The Homework Centre runs in the College Library on Wednesday and Thursday from 3.30pm to 5.00pm for most of the year.

It provides a very positive working atmosphere for students to get their homework done with access to computers.  There is lots of teacher and student help for those who need it.

Everyone is welcome.  Students sign a "contract" making a commitment to the programme.  They must complete a registration form and have it signed by a parent.  They commit to attending on a regular basis.  Regular study after school with teacher and parent support really helps.

We really need more parents to come along and support this programme.  There is no expectation of parents having to teach students but families and teachers working together are a key to a students' academic success.

If you are able to help support the Homework Centre please email Naenae College.
