Alert Level 2 Return to onsite learning

Alert Level 2 Return to on-site learning for all students.

Ministry advice:

You will have heard the Government’s decision this afternoon that New Zealand, beyond the northern and southern boundaries of Auckland, is moving to Alert Level 2 commencing from 11:59pm Tuesday 7 September. Auckland will remain in Alert Level 4 until at least 11:59pm Tuesday 14 September.

As the Ministry of Education do, they are working with the Ministry of Health to turn the new Health Order into guidance and will send this out as soon as we’re able. Iona had hoped to be in a position to send this last night, however at this stage this will be this morning. We are not expecting large-scale change to the settings, however, face coverings for age 12+ are recommended.

For those of you moving into Alert Level 2 (Naenae College), you are able to take the next 48 hours to prepare for your school to reopen to all students on Thursday 9 September. Cleaners, contractors and some staff can go onsite from tomorrow in order to prepare.

While many people will be delighted to return to school, some students will be apprehensive. We will continue to support schools to reassure whānau and over the next few days, we will provide further advice and more details to whānau and families.

It is important at this time to remember that the Government makes its decisions with a health-first lens and it makes its decisions very cautiously. This decision is a reflection of the success of our collective approaches to date.

AS MORE INFORMATION COMES TO HAND I WILL POST IT HERE
