Senior Students to Roster Home: End of Next Week

Re: Senior Students Rostered Home

We are drawing to the end of week six and have successfully completed planned events with minimal disruption.  Winter and covid illnesses were signaled as likely threats to schools being able to maintain continuity of teaching and learning for students as the term progressed.  Some schools in our region have already rostered students home due to illness of staff.  The level of illness among Naenae College staff has reached a point where the quality of learning for students is likely to be impacted if we did not act now.  Therefore, beginning next week in consultation with my Senior Management Team, I have decided to roster senior student year groups home as follows:

Wednesdays, 15 & 22 June:       Year 13 students rostered home

Thursdays, 16 & 23 June:            Year 11 students rostered home

Fridays, 17 & 24 June:                 Year 12 students rostered home

Review:  Thur 23 June and community notified.

Students will not be required to come home with school devices on their respective days.  A designated room with computers will be available for students to come to college and access online learning that teachers have provided.

I apologise for any inconvenience this decision may have on families but this should ease the current pressure off staff and ultimately students.

Thank you for your understanding and support.
