History of our school

Naenae College has is a rich history spanning over 63 years as a multicultural, co-educational state secondary school located in the Hutt Valley.

John Russell was appointed for the start of 2007, after three terms in which the role had been filled in an acting capacity. A new Board of Trustees was elected four months later. The positions of the two statutory managers, introduced by the Ministry of Education during 2004 and 2005.

Students enjoy a wide range of sporting, cultural and leadership opportunities. Kapahaka continues to be strong and there is a flourishing Pacific performance group. In addition, the college is involved in mentoring initiatives for senior students through tertiary and business institutions. Seniors take an active role as prefects and mentors.
