Information for Students and Parents / Caregivers Start of Term 1 2018


Please make a note of the following times and activities, then keep this sheet in a safe place.  It contains important information about when Naenae College re-opens for your child in 2018.


Wednesday 24 January               

Senior Students Course Confirmation


Course confirmation for Year 11, 12 and 13 students with their Whānau Heads and HOFs in the library from 9:00am to 12:00pm.  2018 Year 11, 12 and 13 students who have not met entry requirements for courses or want a course change are to report to the Library to confirm their courses.  Years 12 and 13 students should bring their NZQA results with them. Students requiring course changes will only be accommodated if there is space in the desired course.



9.00am-12.00pm          All other students requiring course confirmation to the library.

9.00am – 12.00pm     All Prefects to meet with Mr Richards in R2

                                    Ms Renata meets with all Mentors in the Wharenui


MONDAY 29 JANUARY                 

Teacher Only Day – staff only


TUESDAY 30 JANUARY                 

School Opens for Year 9 students


8.00am                        Prefects and Year 9 mentors meet in wharenui and help set up the paepae.

8.45am                        All Year 9 students, new students to the College at all other year levels and whānau are welcome                                         and should assemble at the main gate.

9.00am                        Pōwhiri commences.

                                    Morning tea will be provided following the pōwhiri, after which Year 9 students will follow a                                                 planned programme for the day. 

                                    Lunch will be provided for Year 9 students.

                                    Year 9 mentors with Roopu all day.

3.00pm                        End of Day


All students are reminded of the need to arrive at school at the times stated above in immaculate full school uniform, along with a pen.  Year 9 students will also need to bring their PE gear.


All Students back at school (please note that we will start at 8.45am except Year 10 students who will start at 9.40am)

Year 9 students get into their core teaching classes for a ‘mock’ 60-minute session and so they can get to know each other.






All Year 12 LARs to IT workshops in rooms 15, 16, 17 & 18

All Year 11 and 13 LARs to their Learning Advisory Roopu to meet Learning Advisors and get early routines established

Arrive and go to the hall for a 35 minute assembly with CL/RS


LAR (Learning Advisory Roopu) time

All Year 11 LARs to IT workshops in rooms 15, 16, 17 & 18

Year 12 to LAR and then Whānau Room to confirm courses if needed. Otherwise in LAR. Once complete, Year 12 Mentors to join Year 9

Continue in Learning Advisory Roopu – goal setting for the year


All Year 13 LARs to IT workshops in rooms 15, 16 & 17

Course confirmation available in the Whānau Room if needed.

9.30am                                    Normal late start for Thursday. Year 9, 11, 12 & 13 to arrive at 9.30am.




8.45am                                     Normal Friday timetable for ALL Year levels.
